The Whale by Darren Aronofsky

✅️ Fraser and Chau got their Oscars for a reason and I doubt anyone but Fraser could’ve pulled this off.

✅️ I cried almost as much as in The Bridges of Madison County.

✅️ Libatique’s work with Primes and the Sony Venice is amazing, and the slightly underexposed look is spot-on.

Besides other nonsense I read, those who claim The Whale were fat-shaming must have seen a different movie.

(Sidenote: young Mary and Charlie’s students aren’t credited, which is odd.)

The Whale by Darren Aronofsky, 2022.
Watched at the Cinema theater on January 28, 2026, in its original language.
