The Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition adds a so far unreleased episode of the Backrooms web series as a stand-alone post-credit tie-in scene. It’s shot in handheld found footage style, making it the third found footage scene in the movie.
While that style has been done to death after Blair Witch, it’s applied here in fun, interesting, and unexpected ways.
The first found footage scene at the beginning of the movie is decent (terror), the second around the midpoint well done (horror). The third, from the ”Everything Must Go” edition, doesn’t focus on terror or horror but on the most bizarrely meticulous geoarchaeological scientific exploration of a progression of furniture sale banners. I love it.
Also, the rewatch made me appreciate the acting and how the script handles its theme and motifs even more.
