The Revenant by Alejandro González Iñárritu

✅ It’s entertaining and both DiCaprio and Hardy are great, but—

❌ —it’s half-assed. Smith’s script is solid and predictable as usual, but less interesting than Glass’s own story; Lubezki’s cinematography often punches below its weight; foley’s mediocre; and historical inaccuracies abound.

❌ Except for the outstanding battle cut, editing jumps between settings sans dramatic buildups and largely drops the ball on the pacing.

Score’s great.
