✅ Entertainingly gory with nifty practical effects.
✅ Solid dramatic and narrative upgrade to Yeaworth Jr.’s 1958 The Blob plus generous doses of humor.
❌ Inexhaustible as-you-know-Bobs, unsatireable tough-talk, and one of the most shamelessest rip-offs of Scott’s 1979 Alien, from verbatim script lines to suspense shots to camera angles to scene setups.
Extra kudos for the (nicely foreshadowed) motorbike jump escape as an homage to Steve McQueen (1958’s The Blob‘s lead).
The Blob by Chuck Russell, 1988.
