Finally got around to listening to Ken Levine’s 2014 GDC talk on “Narrative Lego” and I’m kind of…underwhelmed. It’s all very tropey, it’s all rather old-hattish, good people have tried, and the “yeah but let’s get the system off the ground first” drill is precisely how we bake old problems into new technologies.

As far as I know, nothing much has happened since, except for the studio’s rebranding to “Ghost Story Games” and some adumbrations about being inspired by the Nemesis AI System* and doing things differently than Telltale Games. And while Ghost Story Games’s catch phrase “Radical Recognition” is certainly catchy, I’m not holding my breath.

* Which, in an egregious dick move by Warner Bros., has been patented in the meantime.
