{"id":7623,"date":"2026-08-06T19:52:52","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T17:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/?p=7623"},"modified":"2026-08-06T19:53:52","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T17:53:52","slug":"organ-recital-by-oskar-gottlieb-blarr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/2026\/08\/06\/organ-recital-by-oskar-gottlieb-blarr\/","title":{"rendered":"Organ Recital by Oskar Gottlieb Blarr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fantastic organ recital by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oskar_Gottlieb_Blarr\" target=\"somethingUnique\">Oskar Gottlieb Blarr<\/a>, whom I know from way back when one of the things I did for a living, at a certain point in my life, was being a hired gun support vocalist for choirs and ensembles, particularly for Neue Musik. Good times!<\/p>\n<p>The front and tail sections, Bach: three choral preludes from the <em>Little Organ Book<\/em> sandwiched between the enormous prelude and fugue C minor BWV 546 as a kick-off and the closing chorale from the cantata BWV 147 as an encore. <\/p>\n<p>In between, terrific stuff: \u00ab&nbsp;Verset pour la f\u00eate de la D\u00e9dicace&nbsp;\u00bb by Olivier Messiaen; the first three parts from Norbert Laufer\u2019s \u00bbGlockenspiele f\u00fcr Melanchthon\u00ab (for which, curiously, Blarr applied everything <em>but<\/em> glockenspiel-evoking stops); and the finale from Alexandre Guilmant\u2019s Organ Sonata No.1 in D minor. <\/p>\n<p>Between Laufer and Guilmant, moreover, Blarr played two of his own compositions: his at times whimsical, at times serious \u201cSomething Like a Blues\u201d from 2008 and, as a premiere, the brand new \u201cMein Jesus\u201d as the first part of an organ symphony in the making themed on depictions of Jesus, this part inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexej_von_Jawlensky\" target=\"somethingUnique\">Alexej von Jawlensky<\/a>\u2019s painting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuma.art\/de\/exponat\/heilandsgesicht-waechter\" target=\"somethingUnique\">\u201cSavior Face: Guardian\u201d<\/a> from 1920.<\/p>\n<div class=\"spacer20\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"ruler\"><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"epigraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/neandermusik.de\/sommerliche_1.html\" target=\"somethingUnique\">Sommerliche Orgelkonzerte: Oskar Gottlieb Blarr<\/a><br \/>\nNeanderkirche, D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany<br \/>\nAugust 8, 2026<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<a href=\"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/2026\/08\/06\/organ-recital-by-oskar-gottlieb-blarr\/\" rel=\"bookmark\" title=\"Permalink to Organ Recital by Oskar Gottlieb Blarr\"><p>Fantastic weather meets fantastic music.<\/p>\n<\/a>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-7623","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-archive","h-entry","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7623","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7623"}],"version-history":[{"count":36,"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7623\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":7659,"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7623\/revisions\/7659"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7623"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=7623"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/betweendrafts.com\/justdrafts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7623"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
