The Future That Is
All those who are science fiction aficionados like me are well aware of the Future That Never Was.
When I look out the window, I see, hear, smell vehicles with internal combustion engines, still destroying our environment, in the Year 2010. This is patently absurd. When I look at the sky, and the only thing I see is a prestigious, but scientifically feeble International Space Station, and not even a basic colony on the moon in the Year 2010, that’s patently absurd. When I look into the production modes of most products in most countries, and the only robots toiling away are humans, even children, in the Year 2010, that’s patently absurd.
But there is also a A Future That Is, and this commercial for BBC Superpower captures it very well.
As most of the time, it’s all about not which story you tell, but how you tell it.
